I warned you

My fic journal

Fic: Scamp (1/?)
grin
[info]ellipsical
Fic: Scamp (1/?)
Rating: Will range from PG to R for sexual situations and language
Pairing: Garak/Bashir
Warnings: AU! Proceed at your own risk
Notes: Written (belatedly) for the [info]ds9agogo Station Ficathon. The prompt: Garak/Bashir. An AU where they’re all on a starship and Cardassia is a new-ish member of the Federation. Garak is one of the first Cardassians to serve in Starfleet.
Additional author's notes: I finally got this off the ground after starting it more than a year ago. Damn writer's block! Anyway, although it is an AU, I try not to get too ridiculous with it, though I give the Defiant some capabilities that it didn't really have in the Prime universe. I had wanted to set this in the same universe as found in the TNG episode "Parallels," since the Capt. Riker ship had a Cardassian on the bridge, but I remembered that universe was at war with the Bajorans, so Kira's presence would have been odd. So this takes place in a universe just like Parallels, except Picard is alive and there's no war with Bajor.

Lieutenant Commander Elim Garak re-read the data on the padd he was holding before handing it back with a smile to the young engineer who had delivered it.

If you could be any Star Trek character, who would you be, and why?

Garak. He's awesome, cultured, deadly, and there's no way he didn't diddle Bashir during some point in the series.

Virgin Territory (G/B, PG/R -- One-shot)

Title: Virgin Territory
Pairing: Garak/Bashir
Rating: PG-13 bordering on R
Disclaimer: I STILL own no cunning tailors or hazel-eyed doctors. Yes, my life is still kind of sucking.
Summary: Julian knows something's up with Garak -- and it's not what he wants to be up with Garak.
Author's Note: Another response to [info]gul_obsidian's Virgin!Garak Writing Challenge, this one spawned from the comments from my previous fic. Also, I've been up for almost three straight days. I'm starting to hallucinate that Garak is trying to fit me for a ballgown, so I think I'd better get some sleep.

The doors to Garak's Clothiers had barely closed behind Dr. Julian Bashir before the proprietor himself emerged from the back, his professional shopkeeper's expression at the ready. Julian noticed that when Garak realized who his "customer" was, the at your service smile dimmed a little and was replaced with a grin that reached the Cardassian's sky-colored eyes.

Title: Outside Looking In
Pairing: Garak/Bashir
Rating: PGish
Disclaimer: I own no cunning tailors or hazel-eyed doctors. Yes, my life is still kind of sucking.
Summary: Something caught the doctor's eye in the Cardassian medical database that has Julian giving Garak an extra-thorough physical.
Author's Note: A quick and PG response to [info]gul_obsidian's Virgin!Garak Writing Challenge. There might be a followup to this but I have to get the story from [info]ds9agogo's 2010 ficathon challenge written first.

For about the 25th time, Dr. Julian Bashir waved the tricorder in one long, graceful arc over his patient's supine form. He knew that he'd been more or less running the same tests for almost a quarter of an hour, but he had to make absolutely sure ...

Fortunate Son 2/2 (G/B, PG)

[info]ellipsical
Title: Fortunate Son (2/2)
Pairing: Garak/Bashir
Rating: PGish
Disclaimer: I own no cunning tailors or hazel-eyed doctors. Yes, my life does suck.
Summary: Garak believes in coincidences. Coincidences happen every day. But he doesn't trust coincidences. Lucky breaks? Not so much.
Author's (Additional) Note: My icons were made by the lovely [info]lady_drace from some amazing Japanese(?) art.

A fine trickle of sweat snaked down Garak's cheek as he labored with the circuitry behind a bulkhead in the fore of his shop. He had not been commed, so either no one had noticed that the shop had not yet opened or no one had cared. It was all the same to him, though he did feel a slight pique to not have heard anything from Julian. Perhaps it was just extremely busy in the Infirmary that day.

Fortunate Son 1/2 (G/B, PG)

Title: Fortunate Son (1/2)
Pairing: Garak/Bashir
Rating: PGish
Disclaimer: I own no cunning tailors or hazel-eyed doctors. Yes, my life does suck.
Summary: Garak believes in coincidences. Coincidences happen every day. But he doesn't trust coincidences. Lucky breaks? Not so much.
Author's Note:  Rewatching "Improbable Cause/Die is Cast" for the umpteenth time, I wondered just how Garak spotted the Flaxian as Odo surmised. This is set around the events of those two episodes, but are more missing scene/moments than actual counterparts to what we saw in those (amazing!) episodes. Also, the Sade song "Solider of Love" has been looping through my head as the ultimate G/B song. Every time it comes on, I think of them. Weird. Anyway ...
Feedback: Would be much appreciated. My only G/B to date was a humorous romp. This is more serious in tone and I'm a little nervous about it.

Garak nearly choked on his rokassa juice when he caught a glimpse of a wide silver band encircling his lunch companion’s wrist. It looked very much like one of those ridiculous Bajoran ‘intent’ bracelets – an item male Bajorans typically wore to announce their plan to wed, and a rather dull counterpart to the betrothal bracelet worn by Bajoran women. Taking note of the band, Garak idly wondered if he and the entire station had been mistaken about the depth of young Dr. Julian Bashir’s relationship with Quark’s newest vapid Dabo girl.

Does Snarry always work out?
love
[info]ellipsical
Sorry again. I'm breaking my own rule on this being a fics-only journal :( But it is fic-related . . .

I have broken free of my dialogue issues (yay!) but now I have another issue - plot. I have a hard time imagining a Snarry reunion because, to my knowledge, I have never actually seen one. Now, don't get me wrong - I have read death!fic, sort-of-death!fic, forced-bonding-gone-wrong fic, etc., but I'm blanking on fic in which the two of them break up and get back together and/or when, at the end, one of them just decides a relationship won't work for them -

Wait a minute. I just thought of one. In the latest round of the D2D Fuh-Q, there's one where Snape and Harry have been married and together a long time, and Harry decides to leave Snape because he is feeling stifled, but that's how it ends. Harry leaves. Finis. There is no reunification, at least not in that story. I'd like to read some stories where they interact after having broken off a relationship. I have my own ideas of how that would work, but it'd be nice to see some examples. If anyone in FList-land has any, it'd be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, I'm plugging ahead with another Snarry story I had in mind while I wait for honest-to-goodness inspiration to strike me for the final part of the Forethought/Afterthought series. I don't want to just write something just to have written it and then regret it later. In one fandom I was in, there was a fantastic story that was taking a bit to unfold, and the author got tired of writing it and just slapped a pretty disheartening ending on it. I still can't read that particular story without feeling cheated by the ending.

I didn't want to say anything when LJ announced its great news and all, but I'm wondering if that little day of fun we just experienced is indicative of things to come. I don't begrudge people making money, of course, but I always get a bit itchy when something is hyped up to huge extremes and then weird stuff, like mysterious inexplicable outages occur. I do understand that shit happens, but the timing is a little strange, is all I'm saying.

Anyway, if anyone out there in FList land has a journal on greatest journal, Please add me. I'm going to schlep my fics, minus the weird rambling, over there in any case.

Dialogue FIC: Not You
CUTE!
[info]ellipsical
Heh. My beta said that she wasn't imagining that I'd come up with this, but that she liked it a bit. And I actually enjoyed writing the dialogue for a change. Weird.

The downside - I've promised Rekka, sort of, to do a certain type of fic. Guess which kind. Oi!

Title: Not You
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I am SO broke, man! These characters aren't mine
Summary: Snape hears a heartfelt-plea
A/N: My Latin sucks, and I'm blanking on certain spells. Please point out if there's a better one I should have used.
